My Husband and I got married in July of 2018! I always knew I wanted to be a mom and fortunately I got pregnant with Carter right away in December of 2018. He was planned and he was loved so very much. My pregnancy with Carter was uneventful and easy, I thoroughly enjoyed being pregnant. At my 20 week anatomy scan I complained about swelling in my legs and feet, it got worse as time went on. At about week 28 I started complaining of headaches and the swelling started to travel to my face and my fingers, it got to a point where you couldn't even recognize me. On June 17th I was admitted into the Antepartum Unit for Severe Preeclampsia. There they tried to keep Carter baking for as long as possible. My kidney's weren't functioning properly, my liver wasn't far behind, and my platelets were low as well. We tried induction and that ended with an Emergency Caesarean Delivery. Carter was born on June 23, 2019 at 3 pounds 1 ounce, 14.17 inches long. He came out screaming and was a healthy little boy for being so premature. We spent 17 days with Carter in the NICU. He ended up getting a bacterial infection that led to Necrotizing Enterocolitis, Bacterial Meningitis, and Neonatal Septicemia. On July 10, 2019 we lost our little boy. Our NICU journey is one that I wouldn't wish on anyone. I am forever thankful for the time that we got to spend with Carter, I will treasure those moments for the rest of my life. Carter will forever be our baby boy and I will spend the rest of my life talking about him and including him in all aspects of our life.
